We Are Your Medical Home
By Dr. Diane Butterfield
Here at the IWS Children’s Clinic, we want to be your children’s medical home. A medical home is a place where the providers know you and your family and have access to records from outside providers such as the ER or a specialist. All medical information regarding your child can be in one place.
What does this mean?
We are the clinic that provides annual physicals and well visits.
We recommend a yearly exam so we can stay on top of new health and social issues in your family’s life. It is our job to monitor your child’s growth and development and to make sure that all vaccines are up to date.
We are the clinic that sees your child when they are sick.
We have same-day testing capability for viral and bacterial infections. If we send a specimen to an outside lab, we can obtain results within 24 hours. It is our goal to see all our sick patients on the same day that they call. We now have walk-in hours on Mondays from 8am to noon. Also, if you call for a same-day appointment we will do our best to fit you in.
We are the clinic that takes care of your new baby.
If you deliver a baby at most hospitals, they will tell you to bring your baby to their clinic. This is for legal reasons. For your convenience and the benefit of your children, all your children should be seen at the same place. There are several clinics in our area that don’t have appointments available for several months. We can see you on time for all well visits.
We are the clinic you access when you are concerned about school or behavioral issues.
We have a full-time social worker on staff who can guide you to appropriate resources.
We are the clinic you call when you have a medical question.
We try to answer all phone calls within 24 hours, but often it is much faster. We strive to provide educational materials if we encounter a condition your child has which perhaps you have never heard of.
We can perform all these functions better and more efficiently than other health care establishments who do not know your family or your child. Research shows that patients with a medical home have better health outcomes.
Please allow us to be your medical home!
