Founded in 1916, the Oak Park River Forest Infant Welfare Society has focused on advancing the health and well-being of children in need for over 107 years. Today, we persist in providing high quality medical, dental, behavioral health and social services to underserved children ages 0 to 21. The IWS Children’s Clinic provides health care to low-income children from birth through 21. Over 90% of our patients are on Medicaid. The majority of our patients reside in the Western suburbs including Berwyn, Oak Park, and Cicero, and the city of Chicago. We do however have patients that travel from as far as Addison, Illinois.

The IWS Children’s Clinic is located at 28 Madison Street in Oak Park at the corner of Madison and Humphrey. The Clinic’s entrance is on Humphrey Avenue.

Free parking for the Clinic is available in the lot immediately north of the Clinic, accessible from Humphrey Avenue beyond the alley. Village of Oak Park paid parking is available along Humphrey Avenue and Madison Street.

The Clinic is easily accessible by public transportation. We’re conveniently located four blocks from the CTA Green Line – Austin station, and five blocks from the CTA Blue Line, Austin station. Or the Austin 91 bus. Get Directions.

The IWS Children’s Clinic provides medical, dental, and behavioral health care on-site. We also offer Portable Dentistry where we deliver dental care to children directly at schools. Our community-based programs include outreach at health fairs. Through Pet Therapy, Clinic patients who feel stressed gain comfort and support from trained therapy dogs. Finally, through the Giving Library we promote literacy and offer children the option to select a book to take home.

The IWS Children’s Clinic provides care for children between the ages of birth and through 21. We welcome any member of your family within this age range.

If this is your child’s first visit to the Clinic, please come with your photo ID and your child’s health plan information. If your child is not enrolled in a health plan, please visit the enrollment website or contact us for more information. If you are not enrolled in a health plan a sliding fee scale is available – please bring proof of income such as your W-2 form, tax return or paycheck stub. If this is your first medical visit, please bring a copy of your child’s immunization records. For more information, call (708) 848-0528 during regular business hours.

The IWS Children’s Clinic accepts All Kids/Medicaid, some private insurance, and has a modest sliding fee scale for uninsured patients but care is always provided regardless of ability to pay. For information on visit costs, view our Payment Options.
