Bringing Dentistry to Local Communities
When you can’t come to us, we’ll come to you. Each year, we visit nearly 30 schools in Chicagoland, providing preventive care to 1,000 pre-K to 12th grade students in nearby communities who may not have access to a regular dentist. Preventive dental care keeps teeth healthy and helps prevent cavities. If a student needs restorative care, we’ll refer you to the Clinic – a seamless flow from diagnosis to treatment.
About The Program
What We Do
Throughout the academic year, we send a dental team, consisting of a dentist and two dental assistants, to public and private schools in the Chicagoland area. We set up in the school library, lunchroom or nurse’s office. Our priority is making sure children feel safe and comfortable during their visit.
Our Services
Students receive complimentary dental screenings regardless of their insurance status (this includes the opportunity to get their state-mandated dental exams). Eligible Medicaid students will get a dental cleaning, fluoride varnish, and dental sealants.
We Build Relationships
After receiving care, students get a goody bag with stickers, informational handouts, and a new toothbrush.
Parents receive a report of their child’s dental services and the condition of their child’s teeth.
Clinic staff make follow-up calls to all children with urgent treatment needs, like advanced cavities and abscesses, urging parents to schedule a restorative dental appointment.
