Supporting Your Child’s Whole Well-Being

We understand that your child’s mental health is just as important as their physical health. Supporting every aspect of your child’s well-being is an important part of being a patient at the IWS Children’s Clinic. Our experienced social worker is available to screen for any concerns and support you whether you are visiting the Clinic for a medical or dental appointment.

We love partnering with parents, foster parents, and guardians to understand your child’s behavior in the bigger picture. Our goal is to offer practical support and guidance to help your child thrive.

Our Behavioral Health Services

  • Developmental & behavioral health screenings: Screenings are conducted collaboratively with families. These include screenings for development, social-emotional well-being, ADD/ADHD, autism risk, and questionnaires for adolescents. If any challenges are identified, we work together to develop a personalized plan.

  • Social work consultations: During your child’s visit, our social worker is available to speak with you. We’re dedicated to building a trusting relationship that focuses on your family’s needs, challenges, strengths, resources, and is solution driven.

  • Short-term support: Our social worker provides practical tools to help your child navigate challenges. We’ll help your child handle test anxiety, bullying, puberty, adjusting to a new sibling, time management in high school or college, transitioning to a new school, and more.

  • Social services referrals: Our social worker and providers can refer you to outside services including food pantries, housing, shelters, crisis care, mentoring, public aid office, schools, early intervention, long-term therapy, and more.

  • Family support resources: We can offer therapeutic books on anxiety, bullying, body and image self-care, nutrition, emotions workbook, blank journals, and more. We also provide winter coats, gloves, blankets, diapers, and baby wipes. Our providers and social worker are always looking for ways to help families.

  • Ongoing support: We’re here to help even after your appointment. For follow-up questions, call 708-848-0528 and speak with our social worker.
